2015 Highlights <see more>

Turquoise

On November 7, 2015, Stageworks/Hudson presents a staged reading of

Turquoise

a new play by Deb Margolin

Obie winner Deb Margolin's new play, Turquoise, is a disruption of memory play, an excursion into the mysterious interconnectedness of everything!

At the play's center is the Delphian glue holding everything together, an emissary known as The Man With Nothing, and six lives across a spectrum: a wisecracking, Jewish couple married 68 years; an accomplished pianist stricken with a short-term memory of only seven seconds and his loving day nurse; and two 15-year-old boys navigating their way through a timeless set of adolescent passions.

With their disruptions and tiny heroisms, their lives illuminate our tender and often humorous moments of compassion, struggle and nobility.

Deb Margolin is a recipient of an OBIE Award for Sustained Excellence, the Kesselring Playwriting Prize, the Helen Merrill Distinguished Playwright Award and New Dramatists Joe Calloway Award. Among her body of work is Imagining Madoff which premiered at Stageworks and most recently, 8 Stops, which was produced at the Cherry Lane Theater in NY.

The staged reading of Turquoise was made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency, The Shubert Foundation and the Ernest O. Reaugh Foundation.
